Born in New Richmond, Wisconsin where he attended school through the twelfth grade, participating in varsity football, basketball, boxing and baseball. After graduation he attended St. John's University before enlisting in the Navy 1n 1952. He later attended Long Beach State, the University of Maryland, Pensacola Junior College and the University of West Florida, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree from that institution while participating in the Navy Degree Completion Program.
During his enlisted service he was assigned to minesweepers in the Korean war; served on the staff of Commander Mine Force, Pacific; at the Enlisted Personnel Distribution Center, Pacific; in the Bureau of Naval Personnel; on the staff of the Secretary of the Navy; at the Reserve Manpower Center; and in Reconnaissance Attack Squadrons THREE and TWELVE. He progressed through all enlisted grades(E-1 to E-9).
His commissioned service included assignments to Reconnaissance Attack Squadron ONE; USS SARATOGA CV-60; on the staff of Chief of Naval Air Training; Helicopter Attack Squadron THREE in Vietnam; Commander Training Air Wing SIX; in the office of the Chief of Naval Operations; as commanding officer of a personnel and disciplinary command, Great Lakes, Illinois; Enlisted Personnel Management Center, New Orleans; Submarine Base, Kings Bay, Georgia; again in the office of the Chief of Naval
Operations where he was Director of Navy Information Technology and Administration and Postmaster for the Navy. He progressed through all Warrant Officer grades (W-1 to W-4) and from ensign to commander, retiring
in 1992.
His service with the Blue Angels began in 1974 prior to commissioning of the Demonstration Team as a Squadron. He returned for a second tour as Administrative Officer in 1980.
After retirement, he taught high school students for six years and now teaches on a part time basis in the Pensacola, Florida area.
